capacity building, policy development and dialogue.
FES
Zimbabwe FES opened its offices in Zimbabwe in 1980. We are
involved in broad based advancement and assistance programmes
towards the processes of democratisation. The
main project areas are trade union co-operation, promotion of
democracy, gender equity, economic policy debate and media
development. In conjunction with local partners, the foundation
is involved in organising discussion forums (workshops,
seminars, national and regional conferences), studies and

Food for thought
"The right
to life is the most fundamental of all rights and it is
violated by all those who are not able to protect
children and adults from hunger."
Willy Brandt
"The
multitude which does not reduce itself to unity is
confusion; the unity which does not depend upon the
multitude is tyranny." Pascal
"Law and
order exist for the purpose of establishing justice and
when they fail in this purpose they become the
dangerously structured dams that block the flow of
social progress." Dr Martin
Luther King Jr
"Beware the leader who bangs the drum of
war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic
fervour. For patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword.
It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the
mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever
pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has
closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the
rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused
with fear and patriotism, will offer up all of their
rights to the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For
this is what I have done. And I am Julius Caesar."
